Having wanted to make a St Nick costume for my portfolio for some time, I decided this was the year to do it after finding out about my sisters' pregnancies.
I wanted to keep close to my background and go for an historically inspired design, with rich textures and embellishments; it ended up changing slightly from the original design due to time constraints, as I had to make this in my spare time between commissions, but overall I'm so pleased with how it came out, and with the 'First Christmas' photos I was able to take for my new niece and nephew. The costume was graciously modeled by my long-suffering father who wasn't given a choice; but I think he enjoyed himself in the end!
I will be making a few tweaks for next Christmas, and hope to get the waistcoat from the design made, as well as adding some embellishment to the trousers. The existing costume is now part of my stock wardrobe and is available to rent for events - please use the contact form to inquire.
