Hipster Snow White

With Lockdown 2 in full swing, I’m finding myself thinking a lot about how much I miss Comic Con. Standing in an enormous queue to get into the event, surrounded by all kinds of weird and wonderful handmade costumes, seeing old friends and making new ones, and finally taking your corset off at the end of a long day. I miss it all so much!

These photos are from a great weekend back at the May MCM Expo in 2019, where I got to spend the weekend with some of my dearest friends and got some amazing photos of my cosplays, taken by Nikki-Marie. My favourite is the featured image of Hipster Snow White with her strawberry frapuccino (don’t judge me, it was a hot day!)

To create my version of Snow White in her ‘rags’ dress, I took inspiration from the time period of the orignal story and used a pattern for Tudor era stays to create the bodice, and found a lovely embroidered corduroy that kept the rags feel but stayed true to my textured style. The skirt uses layers of brown lace and a shimmering gold underskirt which catches the light and keeps that little element of magic.
