Red Saber, also known as Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, is a character from the Anime Fate/Extra, and was one of my biggest challenges to date.
To achieve the stiff effect of the skirt, I decided to use a heavy canvas fabric, which ended up coming back to haunt me while I was struggling to push it through the sewing machine.
I also decided to make my life difficult by creating a double circle skirt with the mesh, which meant sewing about 20 metres of lace for hem. It’s safe to say I had to take a day off once I finished this particular project!
Despite the difficulties I had with this piece, I’m so pleased with how it came out, and the wonderful client Phaedra looks absolutely fantastic in these photos taken by photographer Daniella Nagy. Phaedra created the boots herself, using her skills learned from her own brand After Ever After Shoes, which went perfectly with this costume!
